Tackling financial inclusion - pilot aids credit unions achieve growth

Today sees the publication by the Association of British Credit Unions (ABCUL) of the results of a two-year pilot project designed to enable credit unions to fulfil their vital role of tackling financial exclusion in some of the UK’s most disadvantaged areas. If the pilot were replicated more widely the improvements achieved could significantly enhance sustainability and growth in the sector.

Business Start -Ups Reach Record Levels In First Half of 2004

Barclays today unveils new figures showing record levels of entrepreneurial activity in the UK. Research shows that 288,000 new firms have been started up in the first six months of 2004, almost a quarter more than the same period last year (233,000).
