Start up research shows a growing number of people want a taste of the 'Good Life': the South East, East and East Midlands lead the way.

We might not all aspire to be Tom and Barbara Good but gardening has long been a favoured past time of the British. New research out today from Barclays Local Business shows that a growing number of people are combining work and pleasure starting up their own business in the gardening and horticulture services sector, most notably including gardening services for both public and private spaces.

• The wealthy are forging a revolution in the luxury industry as they seek high quality, services and experiences • Two-thirds say that wealth has brought them more time, but also more stress • They see time as the ultimate luxury and will buy-in services that enable them to enjoy their lives • They plan to make greater use of services that save time such as private jets and concierges

It takes $10 million to be wealthy in 2007, research reveals

• More than a third of respondents* think you need at least $10 million to be wealthy • Control over one’s destiny, influence in the community, geographic location as well as purchasing power influence relative perceptions of wealth • In Hong Kong (81 per cent), France and Switzerland (each 79 per cent) are most likely to say that their wealth has allowed them more time for leisure pursuits. • While the wealthy in the Iberian peninsula and Italy are the happiest as a result of their wealth, with 87 per cent of people living in Portugal and Italy, and 85 per cent of those in Spain, reporting a greater sense of happiness as a result of their wealth.
