ONS Travel – Barclays comment

“The positive sentiment around last years’ major attractions continues to rub off as tourist numbers to the UK rise year-on-year for the sixth month running. Although the Pound is faring well, visitors are still finding value for money in the UK, particularly compared to several years ago, and as we head into Christmas we expect to see this trend in visitors continue.

“Whilst last week’s increase in GDP expectations should go some way in increasing consumer confidence, would be holidaymakers during October chose to stay at home rather than travel abroad. Despite this, operators in the sector are feeling upbeat, and with the winter holiday season upon us we expect a number of consumers to take advantage of the early opened ski resorts.”
